Aquapark Tychy is known as Europe's most innovative and energy-efficient water park. It stands out because, among other things, it has an amazing facade made of Rockpanel Chamelen panels that change color depending on the weather. The building's elliptical shape is a tribute to nature and the lake's waves. [Read more about the design idea HERE]. The building was honored with a first-place award in the prestigious 2017 “Construction of the Year” competition, as well as the “Silesian Grand Prize of Construction – 2018”. awarded by the Silesian Chamber of Construction.
Using biogas from the nearby sewage treatment plant to make electricity is also important. This makes the building 100% neutral in terms of energy consumption. Also, energy that isn't used is sent to the municipal grid, which lets about 1/7 of the city to be powered by bio-energy.
The Tychy Water Park itself offers a very rich program with many attractions. A 400 m2 pool with artificial waves, waterfalls, water spouts, geysers, and a water swing is available for both children and adults. Meanwhile, in the sports zone, we have a 25-meter-long pool separated into six swimming lanes. The lagoon zone, where we ride by a flowing river, is just close to it. We may relax on water loungers, massage chairs, and warm stone seats. Meanwhile, there are playgrounds, paddling pools, a secret treasure cave, water cannons, and interactive toys for the younger ones. There is also a pontoon slide and an interesting multimedia slide. A novel feature is the surfing zone, which includes equipment that simulate waves and are customized to the abilities of youngsters and adults.
Nature has also been incorporated into the aquapark's interior design, with flowerbeds and several green walls. This is Poland's first water park with the largest area of indoor vertical gardens. Vertical gardens, for example, have been employed in the main sports pool, where vegetation has been incorporated into the curving contour of the elliptic facade. Green walls were also installed in the relaxation area, saunas, massage rooms, and the reception area. The challenge was to create a vertical garden at the recreation pool, with plant panels positioned at an angle and along the arc of the stairwell elevation. To enable photosynthesis, the plant was supplied with an automatic irrigation system and adequate illumination lamps.
